Constructed of solid oak and of good quality construction. Dovetail joined with metal fixings to the corners of the case. There are catches which are in full working order which hold the front leaf in place when closed. The front leaf removes to reveal five graduating drawers each with it's original bakerlite drawer knob. The drawers are with the original baize lining excluding the bottom drawer as has been phtotographed. Also the original baize is missing from the fall front leaf- it has been later replaced but could do with re-lining. There are holes to the top of the case indicating there would have previously been a handle. And lso the lock has been removed from the fall front. The wood is well polished and has good colour. The piece is made of solid tiger oak, and is in good condition. It is complete, with the two original sliders in the drawer. There is minor separation at some of the seams as well as holes in the bottom of the cabinet. Recently refinished: the Globe stamp has been sanded off, but it is 100% authentic. This is an antique oak card catalog. Made around 1930S. It was made by the company"GLOBE" globe label and brass name plates and has the original brass tag and drawer pulls. It is in good original condition and drawers work as should. Both card supports are still present in the drawers and work well. This card file holds 3" by 5" index cards.
